Entando 6.3 comes with new updates to simplify the development and operations of applications built on OpenShift. In addition to OpenShift being Entando’s primary test platform and out-of-the-box support for OpenShift’s security and routing, we’ve also added quickstart templates to make it easy to get started with Entando on OpenShift environments.

Entando works on all major public cloud Kubernetes implementations including Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, and Google GKE. And with this release, we’ve also added an option to utilize Redis as a caching layer to support horizontal scaling and the high availability of Entando’s App Engine.

Complete Export/Import of Entando Applications

Users can extract all assets from an Entando application and migrate an exact copy of that application to another environment. Uses:

  1. Simplified push from staging to production.
  2. Snapshot an entire application at a point in time, and save it in a bundle.
  3. Generate new applications from a base template, share, and reuse across your organization.
  4. Fine-grained control over importing assets or asset classes into another Entando application with the ability to overwrite or skip specific assets.

Streamlined Developer Experience

Entando 6.3 comes with a powerful new CLI tool with significant improvements for developer productivity including local environment setup, export/import, helper utilities, and diagnostics. Simplify and speed up development with 1-line commands to:

  • Set up project scaffolding.
  • Generate an entity and corresponding micro frontends.
  • Prepare and publish a bundle that can be loaded in Kubernetes.
  • And run projects locally:
    • Start up a local Keycloak instance from a Docker compose image.
    • Start your microservice.
    • Start your micro frontend(s).

Kubernetes Deployment Architecture

Improved security, performance, caching, identity management, storage, and database, and domain enhancements:

1. Security

  • Support for both namespace scoped deployment of the operator as well as cluster-scoped deployment of the operator
  • Option to require installation of bundles from authenticated git repositories with public key authentication via SSH

2. Performance

  • Fine-grained control over resource requests and limits (CPU, Memory, Storage) for all deployments

3. Identity Management

  • More flexible control over Keycloak integration, with support for multiple Keycloak instances for clear separation of users in a multi-tenant deployment scenario

App Builder Updates

We’ve also improved the user experience for:

  1. Simplified page and content creation workflows.
  2. Improved Page Designer functionality to accelerate page design and configuration.
  3. Welcome wizard to help users become familiar with the App Builder interface when creating their first application.

Build better apps faster with Entando.

When release cycles take months instead of weeks, your business is left unable to deliver modern online experiences. Development and deployment bottlenecks slow your ability to make application updates, keeping you from iterating and innovating. And outdated or clunky UX keeps you from winning customers over and retaining them.

So that’s why we created a platform to help you get your ideas to market faster.

Entando is the leading micro frontend platform for building enterprise web apps on Kubernetes. We want to change the way enterprises think about building their apps, sites, and portals in order to innovate more quickly.

With Entando, you can:

  • Leverage customized blueprints using the Entando Component Generator (built on JHipster) to quickly create micro frontends and assemble them into an app.
  • Reuse UI/UX components across multiple projects via the Entando Component Repository, saving money and increasing development speed.
  • Scale apps quickly and effectively with Entando’s custom Kubernetes operator, automating the deployment of high availability, self-healing applications.
  • Centrally manage user roles with Entando Identity Management (built on Keycloak).
