How to successfully apply to an IT company like Entando
As Entando is hiring, you might be considering to apply: here are some tips on how to approach an application to Entando. Let’s consider two key phases of the hiring process: writing the curriculum and facing a job interview.
Before we start, the first piece of advice is reading everything that might be useful to learn more about the company you’re applying to and about its culture. For example, with respect to Entando, you can start from the web site and the continue on the social media (Linkedin, Twitter, Slideshare and shortly You Tube) that we regularly update with contents such as product updates, market trends, case studies, tech tips, events.
Writing a good CV is absolutely the most important activity. At the moment the European resume format is tolerated, but is not the kind of CV that really impresses. For this reason the second advice is to create a template of CV that you can adjust every time to a specific application. At Entando, we appreciate a maximum 2 pages cv, highlighting the latest experiences, the key achievements and the strongest skills. Don’t forget to insert a few words about your passion because they help us better imagine you personality! Also have a special consideration for your cover letter to highlight your strengths and to explain why you are applying. For more creative profiles, we also look at the quality of the graphics and -most importantly- don’t forget the link to your portfolio!
Now let’s get into interview phase. Normally for IT companies the dress code is not that important, especially if they are startups. For your first interview at Entando, put on the clothes that make you feel comfortable. Avoid shorts pants though...although in Sardinia can be very hot! Before the interview, try to rethink about the reason why you are applying: understanding your motivation is important for us. Be always ready to “an out of the box question”: that’s the way we test your personality. Don’t forget to pay attention to your “non-verbal communication”: your body language will talk for you and we expect consistency between what you say and what you behave. Last but not least, be transparent, as this is a key values in our company.
My last advice is addressed to those who that don’t have much experience but are “foolish and hungry”. Trust me: at junior levels, true passion for technology/innovation and sincere motivation can compensate little work experience. For example, one of our latest hires is a person that used to work in a supermarket as a main job and that cultivated his passion in his free time: when he went through the hiring process, Entando considered his passion and determination, not only his field experiences.
One last thought, to close this post: the three rules of work, from Albert Einstein: “Out of clutter find simplicity. From discord find harmony. In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.”
