New release for Entando, launch of version 5.1
SAN DIEGO - April 8, 2019 - Entando today is pleased to announce a new release of its platform, Entando 5.1, which confirms the centrality of software reuse as a lever for efficiency, UX harmonization and agility in the future of enterprise applications.
Entando 5.1 brings a number of changes to the platform.
The 5.1 release also contains a number of updates and defect fixes around: improved support for Oracle out of the box, new documentation and examples for deploying Entando applications OpenShift, and new options for filterless configuration using environment variables for deployment.
The 5.1 release also brings new functionality in the Entando CMS and the management of digital assets in the content management framework. In particular, this release includes improved workflow and usability of the CMS as well as the ability to edit and crop images inside of the platform.
Beyond this, it’s time for a change: what we are really happy to announce is the tech preview of a new service, the Entando Digital Exchange. Some time ago we talked extensively about the strategic value both for developers and businesses of software reuse. The Digital Exchange fully realizes this concept. This new application allows an organization to create a marketplace of software components, standard or customized, that can be made accessible to internal IT teams or even to external partners and suppliers. The Digital Exchange is the tool to be used to distribute components across various applications within the same company. And we’re talking not only about enterprise styles, but about meaningful pieces of applications. The benefits are clear: acceleration of development times, cost savings and significant improvements in terms of harmonizing user experience across all enterprise applications. The Digital Exchange is an important driver of efficiency, especially in the long term, since it pushes the Total Cost of Ownership of development processes down, but is also a facilitator of the harmonizing customer experience across the enterprise.
Entando 5.1 is available today and can be downloaded from the official GitHub repository. The tech preview tag on the Digital Exchange indicates that the product is ready for developer use, testing and integration in proof of concept environments. A future minor release will provide additional hardening and QA, and then the Digital Exchange will be officially released for production use. After this first phase and the appropriate tuning activities, it will be officially released in general availability during the summer.
