Next Generation Portals made simple | White Paper
Portals (and intranets and extranets) are entering a new phase, sparking a need to begin talking about Next-Generation Portals.
Entando’s take on this is that the need that portals once served - providing ready access to a range of different sources from a single access point - is very much alive and well. It has simply evolved into a demand for a more modern set of application features: lightweight, agile, customizable, user friendly, and easy to maintain. In other words, we’ve entered the era of Next-Generation Portals.
Rapid technological innovation is a hallmark of this next-gen era, and has opened many more doors to communication possibilities than the original portal providers could have imagined. However, the same innovation has created a glut of options with some new platforms being so feature dense that their deployments are now unnecessarily complex.
This is a contradiction of the modern software development paradigm that calls for efficiency, scalability, and adaptability. Is it possible now to avoid a massive technical and feature load when requirements only call for simple compositing, content management, authorization, search, or UX care? Absolutely.
